How my family spends Chile's independence celebrations

Hi there!
This time I'm going to tell you about the way my family celebrates Chile's Independence.
I always get very excited when eptember is around the corner. To me, is a month full of reunions and celebrations. My family almost never go out of town on this days but I don't mind it, because there are a lot of things you can do here too.

On Independence day my family gets together on my aunt's house. It is a nice feeling to meet again with my cousins and relatives that I don´t get to see often. My grandmother, Otilia , usually makes delicious homemade "empanadas" and we dance "cueca". Apart from "empanadas" we also eat "choripan" and "anticuchos". In addition to that, since the last couple of years we've drinked "terremotos" and "chicha".

The 19th is a more chill kind of day because it's my father's birthday. Naturally, we celebrate it at home with my family and all the rest of my relatives. We continue to eat barbecue and "empanadas" but the plus part is that we also got to eat cake and hot chocolate.

The rest of the days we go to "fondas", an event where you can eat traditional food like the ones I already mentioned  dance "cueca" and sometimes even see national artists performing

I love to dance cueca even though I don't really do it perfectly.  It is really fun to dance it and it is better if you find someone who knows how to do it.

I really enjoy this type of holidays and I am looking forward to what next year have to bring!

  1. Hot chocolate is common in winter, but is a good idea to eat it in the "18"
